For 2 or MORE DISH CONTROL Systems
After several request concerning multiple Array, Dish control I have developed a system that works very very well.
1/ I purchase a Computer I/O 4 position switch box and removed the existing DB25 Connectors, I then mounted 5 pin mike jacks as follows:
2/ 1 in the input/output DB25 position
3/ Mount 2 mike jacks in each of the "A", "B", "C", & "D" positions
4/ 2 RCA female panel jack near each of the "A", "B" "C" & "D" positions above . These RCA jacks provide output lines for each of the "touch memory" cells, AZ & EL.
5/ I then mounted 8 touch memory cells inside the switch box for the 4 Dish control system, 4 for AZ & 4 for EL. Remember you need two touch memory cells for each system in the field.
6/ Each DB25 position had 25 lines (wires) connected to them, you only require 6 line for each system so you could use a switch box wired form Modem only operation which has only 7 conductors per DB25 position.
7/ The conductor needed are: 2 for each AZ channel "A", Channel "B" , etc as above and two touch memory cells, one for each EL & one for each AZ.
8/ You them mount the two mike jacks per DB25 connector position, one for each EL & one for each AZ from the field. The single mike jack located in the input/output DB25 position becomes the output into the Encoder Tracking Box.
9/ You remove the existing touch memory from each Encoder board and run a single wire to a newly installed RCA jack on the rear of the enclosure box. The touch memory cells located in the I/O switch box is then connected between the each of the two RCA jacks. Two on the Encoder Control Box and two on the I/O box. Remember you only need a single wire connection to each memory cell.
10/ Wire the AZ/EL lines accordingly from each filed input line and to the common input/output mike jack position.
This is NOT as difficult as it may first appear when reading these notes, and it works very, very well. Simply rotate the I/O box switch the the field system you desire.
When switching between systems make certain the system you are switching FROM is NOT energized and tracking in either AZ or EL. This is best assured by releasing Auto Track from the computer, then simply mouse click Auto Track back on after switching.
If requests are sufficient I will design an auto switching arrangement that would look at each field System at pre-determined intervals.
