F1EHN 32 Bit Software

or Documentation on Interfacing Absolute Encoder please see this Page.

(North America) Parts List and Component Source for F1EHN NEW Tracking Interface.

For use with Win95, 98, XP Home, & XP-Pro

  • This is LATEST Ver. 5.1 Tracking Software developed by F1EHN, Jean-Jacques.

The 32 Bit Bit version was developed for usage in WIN 95, but also run very well in WIN95, 98, & WIN2000/NT

  • One GREAT difference between the earlier version and latest Software versions is much lower CPU usage....Example show below
  • Earlier Version: Latest version1
  • 2

  • Please note difference between CPU Usage

For F1EHN Board and /Or Encoder Boards, look here please

  • Locator grid square is usable from within the main modules (new)
  • Antenna diagram automatic measurement (new)
  • New angular correction file including antenna tilting (bending out of shape) (new)
  • Absolute Encoders with either Gray code, or Binary output are now supported (new), 8, 12, 14,or 16 Bit Code.
  • Planner displays graphical month EME data (with cursor measurement) (new)
  • A maintenance angular position (extra park position) (new)
  • Hardware interface between the control software and the EME station (new)
  • US Digital A2 Encoders now supported (new), USD Digital A2 Encoders
  • Linear Encoder supported as before.....New Design just about ready from myself, or build your own, uses RS-422.
  • Time permitting I will be including North America Price List & Availability of all components
  • Another great advantage of J-J's latest Hardware design, is simply build the whole unit as shown, or incorporate ONLY those components for YOUR personal needs on the board. Read more about it on F1EHN Site, or PDF Document.

  • US Digital linear Quadrature H3 Encoder, and T2-7200-D Inclinometer, plus Linear to to 16 Bit Parallel Decoder Card are very, very much like Absolute Encoders, much more flexible, far less cost, and MAST gearing Ratio is not a concern at all. These do reguire an initial Calbration (once only), and you only need to know the turns ratio in your system to calibrate it.

Remember also, you can use as few as 1800 Quadrature counts, if you wish, in 360 degrees, using a cheap 100 counts per turn device, or what ever you can find, and still have 0.05 degrees resolution in AZ & EL display and control.

  • Absolute Encoders. From Optical encoder USA. CP-850-12GC Recommended, very reasonable cost. ($325.00USD),12Bit Gray Code. $450.00USD 14Bit Gray Code. These folks offer a 5% discount on 5 or more units.

  • Because of the field located electronics complexity of the US Digital A2 Encoders, and past experience, I strongly recommend 12Bit, or 14Bit Absolute Gray Code Encoders, A2's can be very costly to repair. EXAMPLE

  • Absolute Encoders. From BEI Encoder Division, H25 Gray code Recommended. ($465.00USD), 12Bit Gray Code. Possibly a bit more rugged in construction??
  • I have worked with Encoders from both Manufactures above and they are both excellent Encoders.
  • This Software may be used WITH OUT the F1EHN Tracking Interface Board as REAL TIME moon position .  All that needs to be done is install the software, then run setup to enter your own Lat. Long, and Elevation above sea level for your QTH, set the COM PORT to "0" (zero), save the file as COM 0 and you are up and running.

  • Setting the Com Port to Com "0" (zero), prevents the software from looking for a Com Port without the tracking interface card attached. This will allow you to use the software for real time moon tracking. Remember that your local data MUST be entered in Setup.
  • If you should have a problem with installation, or any other problems please contact Jean-Jacques,F1EHN, or myself.  Download the latest 32  Bit Version From F1EHN Site  Approx. 2 Meg in size, http://www.f1ehn.org/
