Linear to 16bit Encoder Boards for AZ & EL . THIS SITE HAS BEEN TESTED WITH: IE5+, NetScape 7, and Opera 7,
- One consideration concerning Resolution:
- Resolution is only as good as the Mechanical System controlling the Dish, or Array, and on the accuracy YOU used in the initial CALIBRATION of the system. It may not always be possible, but I strongly recommend a FULL Scale 360deg calibration using a surveyors protractor compass. The unit I used was accurate to 0.005 degrees, rare and also nice to have Friends that will loan you one, as I did. In any case a case a full 360deg. calibration is recommended.
- It is also recommended that you derive as many quadrature counts from the AZ Encoder as possible, but not exceeding 65,256 quadrature counts in the full 360deg's. The ratio of revolutions MAST relative to Encoder can be any ratio needed to reach the above number. An example would be an US Digital H3-2048, the turns ratio can be 31.375 : 1, with the LS-7084 quadrature converter set to X 1.
- Another possibility: using an H3-2000 and mast to counter ratio of 8:1 and encoder board set to X 4 for 64,000 counts and an AZ Resolution of 0.01Deg.
- An H3-500 could be used to obtain the same results, but installed with a mast to encoder ratio of 128:1 for a total 360deg count of 64,000 quadrature counts.
- This System offers 0.01Deg. resolution at 16Bits wide for AZ & 0.05Deg. resolution at 16Bits in EL, total accuracy depends on the user and the accuracy of Calibration .
- PC BOARDS Double Sided, Plated, and Silk-Screened PC Boards for the Encoder are now available from FAR Circuits,
